Before AAMPR (Pre-2021): Laying the Groundwork

  • Before its formal establishment as La Academia de Asociados Médicos de Puerto Rico (AAMPR) in 2021, advocacy for Physician Associates in Puerto Rico was led through PAs for Puerto Rico, a Special Interest Group within AAPA. Dedicated clinicians, educators, and advocates volunteered countless hours to raise awareness, engage national partners, and initiate early lobbying efforts to advance PA recognition on the island. Their foundational work made the creation of AAMPR—and the progress that followed—possible.
