2024 – Present

Kimberly Weikel, MPAS, PA-C

As we look toward the future of healthcare in Puerto Rico, I am honored to serve as the 2025 President of AAMPR. As an Asociado Médico working in OBGYN in Denver, my journey into the world of PAs in Puerto Rico began in PA school when I dedicated my final project to advocating for the importance of PA-Cs on the island.

As AAMPR president, I am committed to continuing our collaboration with our lobbying group and our national orgs. We are dedicated to ensuring that the Asociado Médico/Physician Assistant/PA title is uniquely for us, and I am hopeful we are close to getting a law that reflects this and a scope of practice that better aligns with our rigorous training. On a lighter note, I envision an unforgettable AAMPR celebration at my home to commemorate our achievements during the AAPA 2025 conference in Denver, and I was thrilled to check off a major AAMPR milestone this past weekend! Yes, Laura and I finally met PJ Sin Suela and we will continue positive collaboration with him to improve access to care in Puerto Rico. I am dedicated to empowering the next generation of PA-Cs by supporting the final class of PA students at San Juan Bautista.

Outside of professional endeavors, I have four four-legged rescue-dog children named after my favorite singers: Fonsi, Balvin, Royce, and Miko. My husband is Puerto Rican and is a family medicine physician. When we are not working, we are hanging outside enjoying the beautiful mountain air, and planning our next trip to La Isla del Encanto.

Join me on this exciting journey ahead!
Un Abrazo,

Kimberly Weikel, MPAS, PA-C
