Faisal Kamal, PA-S2

Faisal Kamal is a Physician Assistant (PA) student at A.T. Still University’s College of Healthy Communities’ Central Coast PA Program in Santa Maria, California. He is set to graduate on September 13, 2024 where he will earn a Master of Science degree in PA Studies. Faisal will be eligible to sit for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) afterwards granting him status to work as a certified PA.
Recently, he completed clinical rotations in the Miami, Florida area. First, completing rotations in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Behavioral Health at Community Health of South Florida, Incorporated (CHI) in Miami, Florida. Second, completing a rotation in Women’s Health at Total Women Wellness Clinic also in Miami, Florida. Finally, completing rotations in General Surgery and Emergency Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital’s Palm Springs campus in Hialeah, Florida. Faisal has been a resident of San Juan, Puerto Rico since 2021 and has returned back to the island since completing his clinical rotations. He aspires to work in Cardiology upon successfully passing the PANCE to provide care to the Puerto Rican population whose healthcare system has taken a decline. He is passionate at helping rebuild the healthcare system in Puerto Rico and advocating for the PA profession on the island.
In 2010, Faisal obtained his Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Echocardiography from Central Florida Institute in Palm Harbor, Florida, and in the same year, passed the national board exam in that specialty to work as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular International Credentialing. In 2013, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from AdventHealth University in Orlando, Florida. As a RCS, Faisal has been able to work professionally with numerous healthcare organizations such as Orlando Health in Central Florida, Cedars-Sinai Health System in Los Angeles, California, and the Metro Pavía Health System in Puerto Rico. He still remains active in the profession, holding licensure as a Cardiac Sonographer in Puerto Rico and working directly for Hospital Pavía Santurce in San Juan.
Faisal has been accepted into the Doctor of Medical Science program at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and set to begin these studies on October 2024. He is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and la Academia de Asociados Médicos de Puerto Rico (AAMPR). At AAMPR, he has been a co-editor for the newsletter since April 2024. In May 2024, it was announced that Faisal was the recipient of the Robert Ramos Memorial Scholarship from AAMPR that aims to help PA students who demonstrate a commitment to serving the Puerto Rican community.
